Ajddigue Women’s Cooperative
Founded on July 15, 1997, the women’s cooperative AJDDIGUE was established as part of the Project to Support the Improvement of Rural Women’s Employment and the Sustainable Management of the Argan Forest in Southwestern Morocco. Located in a rural area, AJDDIGUE is committed to sustainable economic and social development, led by and for women.
The cooperative’s core mission is to promote the economic empowerment of rural women by enhancing their traditional know-how, particularly in the production of argan oil, a symbolic product of the region. Through a model of solidarity-based cooperation, AJDDIGUE enables its members to improve their income and strengthen their role within their communities.
Objectives of the Cooperative:
– Improve the income of member women;
– Promote and position products from the argan forest on local and national markets;
– Strengthen the organizational, technical, and commercial capacities of its members;
– Reduce production costs through the pooling of resources and services;
– Preserve and transmit traditional female knowledge related to argan;
– Foster the active integration of rural women in the local development of their communities.
Through the promotion of argan oil and other local products, AJDDIGUE works toward the sustainable management of the argan ecosystem and the fair recognition of women’s work in the local solidarity economy.
